Course Description:

The Lumbopelvic Hip course is designed to give the clinician a framework for assessment and treatment of this region considering regional interdependence of the upper quarter, lower quarter, and thorax based on current best practice guidelines. An emphasis will be placed on identifying potential barriers and facilitators of the lumbopelvic hip complex, utilizing an illness script approach to determine potential red, yellow, and green flags.  Additional learnings include differentiating pain sources, understanding Panjabi's neutral zone concept, and assessment of core stabilization. Treatment interventions will include strength and conditioning guidelines for power, core, and assistive exercises specific to the patient's meaningful activities in open and closed kinematic chain tasks with static and dynamic double and single limb considerations.  

At completion of this 8 CEU course, the attendee will be familiar with the following topics:

  • Recognize and describe potential barriers and facilitators to lumbopelvic hip complex
  • Understand and implement an illness script approach
  • Differentiate radicular, somatic referral and central sensitization pain presentations
  • Identify potential red, yellow, and green flags with patients who have lumbopelvic hip pain
  • Demonstrate the use of Center of Mass over Base of Support for Regional Interdependence using a MEANINGFUL SCREENING TASK
  • Understand concepts for differential diagnosis of the lumbar, pelvis and hip regions
  • Demonstrate a lumbopelvic and hip scan
  • Understand the concept of neutral zone per Panjabi’s definition
  • Demonstrate core stabilization testing and relate the tests to functional tasks
  • Create effective treatment programs for phases I, II, and III with the lumbopelvic hip complex

Coffee and light snacks will be provided, and the attendees will break for an hour independent lunch.
